This seems crazy, but some people seem to have the right genes to live longer. With science thrown into the mix, we could live to be 120.
How to Live Longer: Scientists Are Pushing to Make 120 The New 70
My mother, who is 83, was happy to hear this news.
The person to live the longest so far was Jeanne Calment of France. She lived to be 122 years old.
How are we supposed to live longer?
Pharmaceuticals. Technological advances. Various therapies. 3-D bio printing. And much more!
While it's fascinating, it also makes me wonder - how in the world are all of these people going to support themselves financially if they start living to be 120 years old? It's difficult enough for a 75-year-old to support himself let alone live an extra 45 years.
If we're going to live that long, we also have to think about putting money away for the rainy day of long-term care. And what will the quality of life look like at 100 or 110 or even 120? It may not be quality life at all.
I still believe in the value of a DNR - Do Not Resuscitate order. If I'm going to be in a bed without the ability to speak, eat or move, what is the purpose to being kept alive while being trapped inside of my body?
In the end, quality living has far more value than the quantity of years.
