Don't Track Your Missing Phone in App? It Could Cost Your Life

For a very long time, I had an app on my phone to track my missing phone.  I'd misplace it running around after the kids and it was easier to find my smart phone with the app.

In today's world, the apps are so specific in helping you track your missing smart phone, you can literally drive to an address if your phone is stolen.

Sadly, that is what apparently happened to a young man who tracked his cell phone to an address. He confronted the person or people who had his phone, they reportedly refused to give it back and he was shot and killed.

This young 18-year-old kid lost his life over a phone?

Be smart.  Don't go after thieves.  If you've left your phone behind somewhere, call the phone first to see if maybe someone nice found it and ask them to turn it into a local police department for you to pick up.  Do not confront anyone over a stolen phone or computer.

This story had a sad ending.

There have been other stories about people tracking down a stolen computer thousands of miles away, but those stories are rare.  More often, I know people who never see their stolen smart phones, computers, laptops and iPads again.

Just be careful.  And don't chase any stolen merchandise.  Call the police instead.
