Google Has a Heart

There's a fabulous story with heart on Reddit.  It's sad but also uplifting about the corporate world.

When this man was in the the midst of interviewing with Google, sadly, he got the news that his sister had died.

Check out the picture on that link.  Google sent him the nicest, most thoughtful card about his sister's death.

Companies don't do that.  Sadly, that's the truth.

Rarely is someone in a corporate PR department even notified that a potential candidate who is in the middle of the interview process had a death in the family.  For this gent, he was only to the phone interview stage.

Google gave him time and then continued the interview process when he was ready.  He's now been offered the job.  I'd say take the job at Google, because what a great company, but truly it sounds as though he's already at a great company that loves and appreciates his work.

Torn on his decision... either way, tippin' my hat to Google for a good deed, a kind deed... indeed!
