Working Out of the House?

The computer screen is blank.

It's time to write.

Your work day has started... at the home office.

You're still in pajamas, stumbling around the kitchen to get a cup of coffee.  No one knows what you look like as you start posting your first story on your blog, writing a press release or working on your latest book.

This is what working at home looks and feels like.  It can feel energetic and productive one day and sluggish the next.  It all depends on how much money you're making.

There's a great article from Playboy Magazine:  12 Struggles Only People Who Work From Home Truly Understand

There are times when I'm working from home and my neighbor calls me.

"Are you okay?  Your car hasn't moved in several days.  Just checking to make sure you're still alive."

She's always so cheery when she asks theses questions.  It's nice that she checks on me but if it takes anyone days to figure out that my car hasn't moved, I could be dead by the time anyone really makes an effort to check on me.

For social interaction, you do turn to Facebook.  And when no one says "Like" to the story you've posted, it's as though no one is talking to you.

It's great working at home on your computer... but it's also terrific working side-by-side with real human people.  Try to find a happy medium that includes both.
