Be Hungry, Make Better Decisions

Whenever I know there is a microphone in my day, I remain hungry before a speech in public.

Why?

Energy.  Decision making.  Maneuvering politics.

It's true that I like to stay a little hungry before a public event. And a recent study seems to back up that approach.

Always Gamble on an Empty Stomach: Hunger Is Associated with Advantageous Decision Making - PlosOne.org

Although this study focuses on the issue of gambling, the results can be applied in your professional life as well.

I eat light the night before a speech and I eat light the hours leading into a speech.  That way, I have energy for storytelling, I make smart split-second decisios and I can also maneuver political environments with better results.  I also don't sit down or remain sluggish leading into a speech.  Most importantly, I refrain from indulging in the snack table.

My best results in my work have always come on a hungry stomach.  Be a little hungry in life and be a little a hungry in business.  And see if your performance and results improve.
