Keep Success in Perspective

Kids know if you're absent or present in their lives.  They know exactly where you are when important things happen to them.  If you're missing, they know it.

In conducting funerals, a career offers a sentence or maybe a paragraph in an entire eulogy.  The rest of the Life Tribute focuses on what gifts were offered, relationships with family members, favorites, passions, and roles in someone's personal life.

I believe you can choose to have it all and do your best to fulfill your personal and professional goals. It doesn't have to be all one or the other.  Balance exists but choices have to be made.

Look at this man who made a choice to be more present for his daughter and take part-time work roles giving him more flexibility at home.  Never give up your career entirely because you need income to pay bills, but take a look at what is really important in your life.  And think about how want to be remembered.
