Extreme Athlete and Wingsuit Flyer Dies

Dean Potter was breaking ground by flying high in the skies with a wingsuit.

Now, he is dead.

It was apparently an accident at Yosemite National Park as neither his nor his friend's parachute opened.

I remember first seeing Potter on National Geographic in his wingsuit.

Different forms of the wingsuit have been around since 1912.

Another wingsuit flyer died in 2013 when his parachute failed to open.

He was a risk taker and potential death was part of the risk he was willing to take.

I'm glad his dog wasn't with him.  It wasn't his dog's choice to go on flights with him.  But he seemed to take excellent care of his dog.  Here they are on a flight from last year.
