I Just Want to Work

Howard Stern hit the nail on the head recently when he said that there's something weird on the West Coast about people trying to get other people fired or prevent them from working.  He said he would never prevent someone from earning a living or providing for their family.  People need to work. Stern and his sidekick Robin Quivers also agreed that there are people who don't want to work and then there are people who want to work but can't find work.

Everything they said is absolutely true.

I grew up on the East Coast and I never saw the behaviors that I've witnessed on the West Coast.

On the East Coast, people aren't constantly reporting each other or trying to get each other fired. We all have families and children to support and you go to work, mind your own business and do your job.

But on the West Coast, it's a totally different approach.  There are people who constantly want to ruin other people by reporting them.  In one of the businesses I've worked in I never saw anyone make it to retirement.  They were all fired first.  I don't understand.  If they were doing their job, why did someone or a group of bullies at work try to get them fired?

I've seen people hit rock bottom to the point of poverty and being homeless.  It makes no sense to hurt people in the wallet and destroy lives.  I've also seen people who reported other people eventually be fired themselves.

People need to work and honestly, it's about giving people a purpose on this earth.

Is it better to sit at home and be depressed while constantly trying to find a job?

Or is it better to go to work every day with a purpose in hand and make a difference in the world?

Is it better to loaf your way through life or is it better to contribute in some way?

There's a really crazy story out of California about The Raisin Outlaw.  He sold all of his raisins and he's being sued by the federal government for selling too many raisins.  For being a success, he's being sued?

Working is important.  And if you sell all of your goods, is that a bad thing?

self-made multimillionaire who retired at the age of 27, recently went back to work because he was bored just sitting around.  He wants to contribute, be a part of the process and make a difference in the world.

When I first moved to LA and started going to church, a woman approached me and handed me a plate of cookies telling me to hand them out after the church service.  I did as I was told.  Eventually, I became a member of that church.  She told me later, "If you give someone new a purpose and a job, it makes them feel like a part of a community and they will work with the team.  That's why I handed you the cookie tray.  I gave you a purpose."  She was right.

Everyone needs a purpose.  Everyone needs to work.  Let them work.

To the people who are trying to get other people fired, think about what you're doing.  Why are you spending all of your time reporting other people?  Do your own job.  Do a good job.  And you will be rewarded.  Destroy other people to the point that they can't support themselves or their children and eventually, what goes around comes around.

People who want to work should be rewarded with a good job.  You don't have to be friends with someone just to allow them to work.  Do your job and let them do their job.   Live with kindness and compassion... for one day, the shoe could be on the other foot.
