For many years, I've been talking about having holographs or some sort of virtual reality technology in use at funeral services. I think it would be cool if everyone could see the deceased standing there chatting away. It would be a memorable experience and it could potentially reinvent the funeral industry.
When my sister died, she created a videotaped message and made everyone laugh. I say, take it a step further, and make it appear that the deceased is right in front of us in 3D.
Peter Guber sees the financial bonus of virtual reality. And he believes the technology could change the world. He's right.
Can you imagine bringing a live concert into your living room... instead of turning it into a production of driving on the freeway, finding parking, finding your seat, not being able to see the singer, and living through a stressful situation?
Can you imagine shopping and being able to go inside the store to see the merchandise... from your own living room?
Can you imagine going into the classroom from your own home?
Guber predicts virtual reality technology will become a $30 billion industry by the year 2020.
I think he's right.
