Fake hard work... that's the advice from a new study.
According to the study, that's what men do on the job and they still get promoted.
So, women are being advised to do the same thing and fake hard work.
Are bosses really that naive that they can't see through what's really going on? This study would have you believe that.
Men don't ask for time off to spend time with the kids. They just schedule a meeting near the family home and spend time with the kids - without asking for permission.
Women tend to ask for time off to spend time with the kids. MISTAKE. Don't ask. Just schedule a meeting near the kids like the men do.
Men take vacation days and don't ask for the time off.
Women request permission, log the vacation days off with human resources and then take the time off.
Men sweet talk clients... women should do the same.
Men get people to cover for them, especially their assistants, so the team can work flexible hours.
Women don't delegate or get the assistant to cover for them so they get less flex time.
Men sign into their work email from home to make it look like they're working. Women should do the same.
Men take calls at any time, day or night, making it look like they're working longer hours. Women should take calls any time of day or night as well.
Some men live by these tricks on the job so much that they're actually working only part-time.
Advice: Women should follow the lead of the men.
Only problem with this theory? The women will get caught and the men won't.
The employees who work under the men won't tattle.
The employees who work under the women will report them to human resources in a New York minute.
My advice: Screw all of the advice above and just do the best you can in your job!
If you try to cheat the system and fake hard work, at the end of the day, you will have tricked no one.
Just do your job and you will be able to sleep at night knowing you did your job with the sweat of your brow instead of employing a bait and switch approach.
