I know what you're thinking. What struggles does multi-millionaire Jerry Seinfeld have?
My friend came into contact with Jerry Seinfeld many years ago, but it wasn't pretty. He was at the height of his success and she was thrilled when she saw him in Los Angeles. She approached him with rave reviews of his show and asked him for an autograph. He was rude and said no, marching away irritated. It was sort of shocking to hear this story because he seemed kind on talk shows and on the his TV show. I thought my friend was just bothering him or he was in a bad mood. It must have been an isolated incident.
Jump ahead to months later when I saw Jerry Seinfeld in a Starbucks. I was shocked and excited, but then I witnessed the scene repeat itself. A fan approached him for an autograph and again he was rude refusing the autograph. The fan called him a few names and exited the Starbucks. Was this the same Seinfeld I had seen in interviews and on TV? I avoided him until he left the store. There was no way I would even extend a hello to say I liked his show.
Days ago, Jerry Seinfeld did an interview with NBC News. While the interview is about his web series Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, which I think is entertaining, he also mentions that he believes he is on the autism spectrum. Most likely, he has a degree of Asperger Syndrome, a high-functioning autism. His poor social skills go hand-in-hand with Asperger's.

Seinfeld doesn't always say the right PC things either. Maybe he doesn't think it through, I don't know. But he's getting heat for his unplanned responses mid-interview.

Now, with his his admission about autism so much more makes sense. But Jerry Seinfeld has risen above his struggles and found grand success most of us will never see in this lifetime. If he can do it, other people who are struggling can do it, too.
