Joan Rivers Gets Cheers on Tony Awards!

Joan Rivers did so much for Broadway. She performed on the stage. She was a Tony Award Nominee.  And she cheered every performer who stepped on the stages on Broadway and Off-Broadway. Bottom line:  she loved Broadway.

After Rivers died last year, the Broadway League decided not to dim the lights on Broadway to honor Rivers.  In the end, that decision was reversed and they did dim the lights on Broadway in her honor.

Tonight, I waited hopefully to see if they would honor Joan Rivers on the Tony Awards on CBS. They did exactly that and it was beautiful as the crowd cheered when her picture and name appeared on the screen.

Rivers was a champion of Broadway and seeing her name in lights one more time on the Tony Awards brought tears to my eyes.  Her perseverance paid off... and she will be remembered for decades to come.
