Funeral Photography is the Norm

Funeral photography is the norm these days.  Everyone takes photos on their cell phones or cameras at funeral and memorial services. Many families even videotape the proceedings.  Close ups of the deceased?  That's fine as long as the family approves.

People can criticize family members who take photos of the casket, but why? It's their choice.  It's their loved one.

Look at President Obama.  He participated in taking a selfie at a funeral.  It was no big thing.

People who haven't seen each other in a long time take photographs, too.  They may not see each other again in this lifetime because they live continents apart.

What if some family members live out-of-state and they are unable to attend a funeral service? Family members take photos on their behalf so they can feel as though they paid their respects.

Everyone needs to accept that times have changed.  Take a photo, don't take a photo.  If it's your loved one, it's your choice.
